Astronomers searching aliens in dark regions of the universe

This one of its kind plan has come from Avi Loeb of Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) and Edwin Turner of Princeton University. The plan is based on the assumption that aliens are using the artificial lights when their planet turns away from their source of light, same thing which happens on earth.

However, this might not be the case on every planet but it is possible on planets where a decent number of aliens are living and have lightened their cities in the dark. Avi Loeb said that searching alien colonies will require extra resources but, if found then it will change the perception of the universe.

Avi Loeb said, “Looking for alien cities would be a long shot, but wouldn't require extra resources. And if we succeed, it would change our perception of our place in the universe.”

Avi Loeb and Edwin Turner said to locate alien colonies in the dark, more powerful telescopes will be required compared to what we have currently. But, with the pace technology is developing, it will not take longer to come up with more powerful telescopes.

Avi and Edwin said that with the current telescopes we can only detect cities the size of Tokyo till the region of Kuper Belt. The two researchers said that it is unlikely that any alien city is present in that part but, the observation has to be done.

Edwin Turner said, “It's very unlikely that there are alien cities on the edge of our solar system, but the principle of science is to find a method to check.”

Currently to detect alien civilization, radio transmissions are used because we favor this technology as it is in our habit. Broadcasting radio, TV etc are based on this technique but city spotting is a much better way to detect colonies.
