Apple’s iPhone 4S launch spurs unexpected response
Apple’s previous iPhone launches in stores have always witnessed record sales. To keep the trend going, Apple's latest model is set to reach over 4 million sales in the first weekend, analysts forecast.
Chad Dorsey, an iPhone loyalist, arrived at an Apple Store at 4:30 a.m. Friday, on Stockton Street, only to find a long queue already waiting outside the store.
As per the survey report, most of the fans were eager to use 4S exclusive Siri service, a voice controlled digital assistant to the device.
Dorsey, a Boston resident who is in town for a technology conference said "You gotta do what you gotta do… The personal assistant is definitely interesting. The advances in intelligence are really impressive."
Huge response pacify investors
iPhone 4S comes after the arrival of iPhone 4, launched sixteen months ago and is Apple’s best-selling phone so far. Initially, the announcement of 4S launch garnered mixed response from the investors amid concerns that the new model would hardly be any different from its predecessor and would fail to generate sales.
But, overwhelming response from people worldwide has allayed the fears of the investors. Tens of millions of people who had been using older iPhone versions like iPhone 3GS were most keen on replacing their handsets with the latest model, the fact which investors failed to recognize.
Sales surpassed expectations
Meanwhile, Terry Stenzel, V.P. and general manager for AT&T in Northern California and Reno explained that overwhelming sales easily outstripped expectations.
Fared Adib, Sprint product chief attributed the response to key facilities offered in the latest model for instance unlimited data downloading, a feature which is currently missing in competitor networks.
Adib stated that, "The response to this device by current and new customers has surpassed our expectations and validates our customers' desire for a truly unlimited data pricing planEarlier in the week, Verizon sold out of preorders for the iPhone 4S.”
