Apple to launch iPhone 4 on May 27 in India
The new iPhone will be available through Airtel and Aircel in two models of 16GB AND 32GB. Apple is launching iPhone 4 nearly one year after its launch in the US market.
Apple has always delayed the launch of its products in the Indian market. Earlier also Apple has launched its iPad and iPhone quite late compared to the International market. However, Apple launched its iPad 2 in India in just less than two month of its international launch.
Price of iPhone
Apple is launching two models of its iPhone 4 in the Indian market. The prices
of the two models are between Rs. 34,000 to Rs. 41,000.
The 16 GB model of the iPhone 4 will be available for Rs. 34,500 ($761) in the market. The other version which is of 32GB will be available for Rs. 40,900 ($901) in the Indian market.
Service providers
Airtel and Aircel will be providing iPhone 4 services in the India market. The iPhone will be available for both post-paid and pre-paid customers. Aircel have announced its plans for the iPhone 4 users but Airtel haven’t shared the details regarding its data plans.
Tricks of service providers
Service providers are also taking full advantage of iPhone 4 popularity. They are using a marketing strategy to attract the customers towards them. Aircel is offering two types of plans; Advantage Plans 50 percent Money Back and premium Plans 100 percent Money Back, to its customers.
It is marketing strategy of attracting the customers, because if a customer buys a 32GB iPhone, the monthly rental will be of Rs. 2510 ($55) but the company is offering a discount of Rs. 1710 ($38) per month for 24 months. But after 24 month customers will be locked with the operator and you have to pay the original rental amount.
The customer care centre of Aircel also confirmed the above things and said that the customers have to pay the original amount. The strategy of the other company that is Airtel will also not going to be any different from the Aircel strategy.
The companies are charging unreasonable amount from its subscribers and the monthly plan of average postpaid customers in India is Rs. 1100 ($24) including data services.
