For the first time Apple is coming with its popular iPhone in an unlocked version that will allow the users to switch service providers easily.

Apple, on Tuesday, announced that it is starting the sale of the unlocked version of its most popular iPhone in its Apple stores.

The new, soon to be launched service of the Verizon will mechanically deliver on demand content to users on their smart phone, tablets and televisions via IP address.

On Monday Verizon announced a digital media utility service which is designed to help advertising, media and entertainment companies. The service will provide computerized, on demand content to the consumers on their Smartphone, tablets and TV.

According to David Rips president of the unit which is overseeing the project, Verizon has been developing this service for nearly three years. Rips said that the service will be available for commercial release in July.

Android-based Motorola XOOM tablets may boast of having many attractive features, but the fact is that only 100,000 of these have been sold so far.

Analysts have revealed that the tablet has been topping the poor performers list, along with Atrix smartphone, and sales have been very sluggish, despite an excellent promotional campaign by Verizon and AT&T.

Pacific Crest’s analyst, James Faucette said that he predicted no major earning estimates for the tablet, as his research has shown that the sales of the Motorola Xoom tablet have been really substandard.
