One of the most popular micro-blogging website Twitter may not have made sense to many when it started five years back, but today it is the main contender of the social networking site Facebook.

The ‘utterly pointless’ venture is riding high on its success these days, and what was once thought to be a platform where people shared useless things, has today become a highly-addictive application for many.

“In the early days, the service struggled for identity, and users, excited by this latest SXSW buzz company, struggled to figure out precisely why they had joined Twitter in the first place,” informed a source.

It is also popular among celebrities and renowned people, as it allows them to be in touch with their fans and to promote their projects, both old and new.

All the AT&T broadband customers using online movie streaming will soon have to pay for their luxury indulgence, as the telecom giant has decided to cap data usage.

According to Broadband Reports, the company will be limiting various broadband users, as per their data plans.

While the DSL users will be restricted to 150 GB, the U-Verse customers will get a maximum data usage of 250GB, from May 1.

Broadband customers exceeding these newly-defined limits, more than three times in a period of three months would be charged $10 for every extra 50 GB.

With video hosting website Youtube bringing in meaty revenue for Google, the company considers it to be a tough competitor of social networking giant Facebook.

"YouTube has proven it can flourish in a model where there is more autonomy, and in that way I think it is an example and a potential model for other areas of the business," said new YouTube CEO Salar Kamangar.

He said that Larry Page was making sure that Google is the name that all impatient people looking for better speeds reckon with, and for this, technical help was being sought.

While analysts do not believe that Youtube has been really growing, the company said that they have seen a double jump in the revenue of the site, last year.
