As per the latest reports published by Engadget, Research In Motion has recalled around 1,000 of its BlackBerry PlayBook tablets because of some technical issues in the operating system of those specific units. This information was also provided by a memo sent to Staples on 13th of May.
The confirmation about this recall was also given by RIM in a statement made to CNET. The company also added that only few of the defective units which were sold to the customers had crossed the distribution stage.
Defective devices unable to load software during initial set up
In a statement made by the company about the recall of the defective units, it said, "RIM determined that approximately 1,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets (16GB) were shipped with an OS build that may result in the devices being unable to properly load software upon initial set-up.”
