Android platform faced the biggest security threat ever, when users found that many Android apps were containing malware, which could harm the smartphones and tablets. Thankfully, Google responded to the issue promptly, and is doing a clean up job.

Google had removed fifty eight malware affected apps from the Android Marketplace, till last Tuesday. But, several thousands of users had downloaded these apps and therefore, their devices got affected.

Some sources are claiming that the number of infected devices could be around 260,000. While this is a serious concern, Google is providing a simple solution.

The malware removal process

As per the latest reports, Google has removed 21 alleged virus-loaded applications from the Android market.

Reportedly, all these applications contained malicious codes that could steal user’s information, among other things, and as soon as Google discovered this, it bid farewell to the applications.

“It turns out that Google’s Android OS is a likely target for malicious programmers. Publisher Myournet has been removed from the Android Market by Google, along with its 21 apps that were a malicious trojan horse,” reported the Android Police.

Google has removed more than 50 Android applications from the Market, after a malware was found in these applications.

Nearly 21 such applications were removed from the Android Market, as these apps secretly installed a malware in the phone.

These 21 programs were downloaded by more than 50,000 users, in last four days.

Malware installing apps were offered for free
Some of these apps included the pirated versions of the Android software itself and were being offered for free in the Market. It was offered after making alterations to add the malware and was offered under different names.
