In order to give tough competition to Apple, Google is mulling over to create and launch its own music store, just like iTunes.

A report by CNet claimed that the company is revamping its Google music service, and this may soon be available for public use.

Reportedly, rumors of a possible music service from Google have been doing the rounds since a long time, and a hint was given about it during the Mobile World Congress that was held in Barcelona, in February.

Motorola Mobility chief, Sanjay Jha had said that the next version of the Xoom tablet would be coming along with video services and music services.

Apple has filed a couple of trademark applications with the European Trademarks Office, which would complete the transfer of the Granny Smith Apple logos from the Apple Corps to Apple, and would also allow the trademark to be extended to include technology products.

The recent filings by Apple seem to be a matter of completing the formalities.

Apple requests for trademarks
In its filings, Apple has stated that the trademark’s coverage should be extended to include “computer hardware, online social networking services, mobile phones,” besides including broader categories like musical instruments, clothing, advertising, gaming, education and broadcasting.

Both the companies have been entangled in a legal battle, as they shared the common ‘Apple’ name.

Recently, Apple released iOS 4.3, a much awaited software update for iPods, iPads and iPhones. With the introduction of this software update, the Apple fans can now use ‘Home Sharing’ in any of the above mentioned devices.

To begin the sharing and synchronization in all your devices, you need to turn on ‘Home Sharing’ in iTunes on each of the Macs and Windows PCs, whose libraries you want to share.

To activate this feature, go to ‘Advanced Menu’ in iTunes and click on ‘Turn On Home Sharing’ and then enter your Apple ID and password in the desired fields.

Once you activate ‘Home Sharing,’ the users will be able to listen and view the contents of each other’s library.
