Amazon. com Inc. has stopped hosting WikiLeaks’ website after pressure from Senator Joe Lieberman, who is the chairman of Senate Homeland Security committee, a tweet by wikiLeaks stated.

The whistle blower site shifted to Amazon after its servers in Sweden were hacked hours before the latest release of classified documents related to U.S. State Department’s internal communications on Sunday.

WikiLeaks said that it is now being hosted by servers in Europe.

WikiLeaks has criticized Amazon for denying services to it. It said on twitter, “If Amazon was so uncomfortable with the first amendment (of the U.S. Constitution), they should get out of the business of selling books.”

U.S. committee questioned Amazon

An anonymous group has launched ‘Operation Payback’ in support of WikiLeaks and what they perceive as the freedom of speech on the Internet.

The websites of Visa, MasterCard, and PayPal were attacked after they blocked donations by people to WikiLeaks.

The hackers are using social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to coordinate their efforts, thereby dragging these companies into the fray.
