AT&T brought good news for their iPhone and iPad users. From 11th March, once the iOS 4.3 will be available, AT&T will support the personal Wi-Fi hotspot feature that will be included in the iPhone and iPad. The best part is that you can activate or deactivate the personal WiFi hotspot any time and no penalty is charged for that.

How to use it
This is definitely welcome news for the AT&T customers as very soon they will enjoy an unrestricted internet usage on the move.

To utilize this facility users need to click on the MyAT&T app on their iPhone and change their data plan to include the Wi-Fi hotspot support. Then the users will be able to connect their laptop to their iPhone hotspot and surf the internet using AT&T's 3G cellular network.

How it saves money

To date, all the smartphone users of Verizon wireless are enjoying an unlimited data plan for $30. But of late, Verizon's Chief Financial Officer, Fran Shammo indicated that such unlimited data plans will soon be shelved.

The new data plans will come into effect from mid summer, and will be ‘data usage’ based plans.

It means, the more you stream video or download music on your phone, the more you pay. Sadly, this new data usage plan will coincide with the iPhone 5’s probable launch date.

Market strategy

The Ookla Net Metrics released the results for nearly 57,000 tests initiated by iPhone users in the United States. These showed that AT&T users were getting a slightly better speed as compared to those with Verizon.

The free network speed test offered at speedtest.net has become so prevalent that the federal government has acknowledged it as a reliable tool for testing speed on various networks.

It was iPhone versus iPhone
When Ookla Net Metrics published the data in which iPhone was pitted against iPhone, it grabbed the attention of people. But it has been known by networking experts that HSPA is faster than the EV-DO rev.

But Doug Suttles, Ookla co-founder, released a more comprehensive data later and the world come to know where to look for the fastest iPhone in the world.
